December 4, 2009 - New Alberta Section Executives Elected
Mark Petovello, Kyle O'Keefe, John Schleppe and Neil Gerein were respectively re-elected to the positions of chair, vice-chair, treasurer and secretary of the Alberta Section for 2010. Dr. Lachapelle stepped down as chair after ten years of service.
January 28, 2009 - Professor Lachapelle Receives Capt P.V.H. Weems Award
Professor Gérard Lachapelle, CRC/iCORE Chair in Wireless Location, and Chair of the ION Alberta Section was presented with The Institute of Navigation 2008 Capt P.V.H. Weems Award for continuing contributions to the art and science of navigation at the International Technical Meeting of the Institute held in Anaheim, CA, this week.

March 25, 2008 - Students Win ION Scholarships at Geomatics Engineering Awards Night
The following students were awarded ION-sponsored scholarships at the Geomatics Engineering Student Awards Night:
- ION Undergraduate Bursary: Jacky Chun Kit Chow
- ION Alberta Chapter Bursary (Undergraduate): Lindsay Michael McEachern
- ION Alberta Section Graduate Award: Aiden Morrison
- ION Graduate Award: Chris Goodall and Ahmad Reza Abdolhosseini Moghaddam
- ION National Graduate Award: Cecile Mongredien
April 24, 2007 - Mark Petovello Receives ION Early Achievement Award
Dr. Mark Petovello, a Senior Research Engineer in the PLAN group at the University of Calgary and vice-chair of the ION Alberta Section, has been awarded the ION's Early Achievement Award. The award, presented today at the ION's Annual Awards Banquet in Cambridge, MA, recognizes an individual early in his or her career who has made an outstanding achievement in the art and science of navigation.
